Practical Support
We believe some of the most powerful support during domestic violence isn’t complicated, it’s practical. It’s groceries when money is tight, a car service so someone can get to court safely, a phone to stay connected, help with transport, or something simple that helps a family get through the week. Too often, these everyday needs fall through the cracks because services are bound by funding rules, eligibility criteria or program limits.
Be There Foundation exists to respond differently. We’re flexible by design, guided by what will genuinely help in that moment, not by what fits a funding category. And importantly, this work isn’t about us doing everything. It’s about enabling the community to do what people already want to do.
Have you ever felt that pull, that instinct to practically help, but not known how, or worried about getting it wrong? This is your chance. Through Be There Foundation, community members, workplaces and supporters can turn care into action, meeting real needs, at the right time, in ways that restore dignity, safety and hope.

Prevention Workshop
Do you know what victim survivors say to us, again and again? “I just wish someone had said something.”
Be There Foundation exists to make sure that moment doesn’t get missed. You can be that person and you can help ensure your whole community is ready to be there too.Our free, community-based bystander workshops are designed to hold the real questions people carry: What if I’m wrong? What do I say? What if I make it worse? When should I act and when shouldn’t I? We create a safe, practical space to explore these questions honestly, while helping community members understand the vital role they play in prevention.
Rather than waiting for harm to escalate, we empower people to notice early signs, trust their instincts and take safe, informed action when they see, sense or hear something isn’t right. These workshops provide real, practical tools, not scripts or slogans, so everyday people can become effective bystanders who know how to respond with care, confidence and impact.

Be There App
We created the Be There app because people kept telling us the same thing: “I want to help, but I don’t know what to do.” We wanted to build something simple, safe and practical, a mate in your pocket, to help people navigate uncharted territory when they see, hear or sense something isn’t right.
The app is designed to support everyday people, friends, family members, colleagues and neighbours to confidently be someone who does something. It offers clear, bite-sized guidance on recognising concerning behaviour, understanding what’s safe and appropriate, and responding in ways that don’t escalate harm. It’s lockable for privacy, includes a feature to privately log what’s concerning you, and provides questions, prompts and reminders to help you think things through when emotions or uncertainty are high.
The Be There app has now been downloaded over 30,000 times, and people continue to tell us the same thing: it gave them the confidence to act. Not perfectly. Not heroically. Just safely, thoughtfully and with care. It’s a practical tool built on real-world experience, designed to help people stay connected, informed and prepared, so support comes earlier, harm is interrupted sooner, and no one has to wonder what they should have done after the fact.
